This week we are working on understanding social expectations around sharing thoughts and feelings in group settings. It is not possible for all thoughts to be heard in every group situation. It is expected that we are mindful and fair and take turns sharing. It is expected that we keep some thoughts inside our head. It is expected that we filter our thoughts and make thoughtful decisions before we share our thinking. It is expected to be mindful and speak when speaking moments occur and think when thinking moment occur. If you are expected to be listening to others then you should keep your thoughts inside your head. We came up with a visual symbol to help our students remember when we should be thinking and when we should be talking. Speech bubble indicates talking time and a thought bubble indicates that you should NOT share your thinking.
